Mount Catur Trekking is one of the most popular trekking destination in Bedugul area. It is located on the upper part of the lake Beratan, lake Buyan and lake Tamblingan that why the panoramic view is really amazing. On the top of the mountain is also built a temple on the forest. This amazing old temple is worshiped by the village of Bedugul,Petang, Plaga .To reach the top of the mountain need about 2,5 hours walking up on shady tropical rain forest.
The track begins with mountain plantation such as coffee, oranges, passion fruits and the jungle. The track takes about 7 hours. On the way, we will enjoy fantastic view and isolated temple on the top of the hill, far away from the villages. The temple is surrounded by big fine trees and jungle. The forest is untouchable by the people for years and it is rich of flora and fauna. A picnic lunch will be served in the forest prepared by guide. This is very good for those who want to see tropical rain forest and the environment.On the track up, you will be started from Bedugul area near the lake or Plaga village in the north of Petang.Starting from the border of the tropical rain forest you begin entering the Indonesian forest that is protected by goverment of forestry of Indonesia.On the footpath are all covered by small concrete path. This is the way up from Plage village but if you choose walking up from Bedugul border, you will get different impression when you walking up in natural foot path. Both the way up you will lead to the top of mountain that is called Mount Catur or Puncak Manggu. The trek is a bit hard for the beginner especially near the top. The trek is all covered by tropical rain forest so your adventure will not very hot on the day.When you are reaching the top, you will be impressed by beautiful panorama of Beratan and Buyan lake down there.The view is really amazing with green forest and the temples with black sago fiber in which is cultivated by moss and fern look like hundred years of the old shrines. Be aware of monkeys around the temple will peep on yours to get the foot that you carry on. After enjoying the panorama from the hill top and having lunch box then you will be escorted by your guide to walk down the parking point where the car is awaiting for your next destination.
